Farah and Phil Galfond Join Above the Felt for Marketing & Talent Representation
It is with great excitement that Above the Felt Entertainment welcomes the dynamic power couple of Farah and Phil Galfond to the its already-impressive team. The poker industry’s fastest growing marketing and talent agency grows by two, as Farah Galfond and Phil Galfond each independently join the talent roster for representation that will cover a broad range of initiatives.
Phil Galfond
Few players in the poker community are as well-known and highly-respected as Phil Galfond. Today’s players and fans know him for his strategy videos, advocacy for the game of Pot Limit Omaha, wise poker social media messages, and voice of reason and wisdom.
The 38-year-old Maryland native started playing poker in his early teenage years, but his competitive nature kept him primarily involved in sports and video games as well. Phil began playing more seriously during his time at the University of Wisconsin, inspired by the 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event victory of Chris Moneymaker. Phil was one of millions of players inspired by the accountant-turned-millionaire story.
He took $100 to the virtual tables and turned it into millions. He battled at the very highest stakes on Full Tilt Poker, under the screen name OMGClayAiken, across multiple poker disciplines: NL Hold’em, PLO, 2-7 Triple Draw, and some 8-game mix. He turned his online successes into live poker triumphs, including three WSOP gold bracelets to date, as well as nearly $3M in live tournament poker to add to more than $10M in online cash game earnings.
Phil’s accomplishments were not simply relegated to his playing skills, as he has been a successful businessman as well. He launched Run It Once Training in 2012 with fellow high-stakes poker players and coaches, which continues operations today as the longest-running training site of its kind. He launched Run It Once Poker, a European-based online poker site, in the mid-2010s and recently sold it to Rush Street Interactive to enter the US online poker market.
Farah Galfond
Farah Galfond was born Farah Fath in 1984 in Kentucky. Her drive to be an actress began at the young age of five. She got started by modeling on the local and national level, landing a Duncan Hines campaign and Pringles commercial. Farah dabbled in beauty pageants as well and was crowned Miss Kentucky Pre-teen 1995. It was during high school theater class that she realized she wanted to give Hollywood a shot.
In 1999, during the summer between her freshman and sophomore year, Farah and her mom secured an LA manager, and Farah was sent on her very first Hollywood audition for Days of Our Lives. She would not return to her Kentucky high school, as she booked the role of Mimi Lockhart, which she kept for 858 episodes over the next two decades.
In 2007, in an unprecedented move for daytime television, ABC offered to create a role specifically for Farah on One Life to Live. She accepted and moved to New York to star as Gigi Morasco.
While living in New York, Farah began playing poker recreationally. When she moved back to LA in 2012, she had more time to focus on poker and ultimately acting took a back seat. Over the years, Farah climbed the stakes and has played in some of the biggest No Limit cash games in the world. She always remains open to a return to acting but for now, her heart is with her family and friends (and the felt) in Las Vegas.
The Galfonds
In 2012, Farah and Phil met on Twitter. Her casual interest in poker prompted a virtual friendship that turned into a relationship, a May 2015 marriage, and the birth of baby Spencer New Year’s Eve 2018.
Each of the Galfonds is now signed to Above the Felt Entertainment. Both play poker, but each maintain unique goals in the poker space and beyond. Phil continues to expand his business portfolio, and Farah continues to keep a presence in the acting world.
